Features of Symlex VPN

As always, we start this Symlex VPN test by discussing its features and our experience with them.

Servers & Locations

This VPN has a robust server network in 65 countries, which is on par with some of the top-tier VPNs. In addition, it offers specialty servers such as:

  • Loyalty Servers
  • High-Speed Servers
  • Ad-Blocking Servers
  • Gaming Servers
  • Streaming Servers

We found no P2P servers but as you’ll later see, Symlex VPN is P2P-friendly no matter the server location.

Its number of servers is undisclosed but we do know it covers 95 locations if we take into account city-level locations. Again, more than enough.

Kill Switch

Symlex VPN’s kill switch protects you against IP leaks if the VPN connection drops. It’s easily enabled in the app and works wonderfully well.

There’s no “Advanced” kill switch but rather a system-level one that shuts all traffic when the VPN connection breaks.

Dark Web Monitoring

Dark Web Monitoring monitors your email address for dark web exposure. It’s handy if you want to know whether your email and password were compromised on different websites.

In our test of Symlex VPN, we discovered that our credentials were safe – thank God!

Protocols & Encryption

Symlex VPN doesn’t tell much about its protocols. It offers Protocol 1 and Protocol 2 as the two options to pick from.

We don’t know if they’re based on OpenVPN, WireGuard, or IKEv2. However, we do know they use AES-256 encryption with DTLS, so their security is tight.

Symlex VPN Protocols

A good thing to mention is that we discovered no leaks in our Symlex VPN review. After trying Protocols 1 and 2, none displayed IP leaks that would compromise our privacy.

Split Tunneling

Split Tunneling lets you exclude certain apps from using a VPN tunnel. You can also use it to route only some apps through the tunnel instead.

Its Windows app doesn’t have it but we found it handy on mobile versions of the Symlex VPN app.

Network Protection

Symlex VPN lets you test your network for security and performance. It’s a neat feature that tells you if you should enable the VPN to protect your identity.

Symlex VPN Internet Test

Our network was at “Risk”, which was improved by connecting to one of many Symlex VPN servers.

Symlex VPN Apps & Compatibility

The VPN’s app looks modern, with an easy-to-use server list on the left. One-click on the location connects you to a server in 2-3 seconds.

We also love its mobile apps with the same aesthetics and simplicity. The VPN also works on all popular platforms, making it versatile.

Symlex VPN Interface

You can install it on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Firestick TV. We dislike that simultaneous connections are capped at 5, which is below the competition that usually aims for 10 or so.

Does Symlex VPN Keep Logs?

No, it doesn’t. It maintains a crystal-clear no-logging policy, which ensures no data is being stored on its servers.

Symlex VPN won’t keep tabs on your browsing history, IP address, traffic destination, and geo-location. An interesting fact is that the company is from Bangladesh.

This means it’s far away from the 5/9/14 Eyes jurisdictions whose privacy laws are questionable.

Symlex VPN Speed Tests

In our speed tests, Symlex VPN wasn’t the fastest ever, offering only “enough” of a performance. Below are our internet speed tests without the VPN in Southeastern Europe.

Native Speed

We tested Symlex VPN across four locations – the UK, the USA, Japan, and Canada. Here are the results:

Germany:

USA:

Japan:

Canada:

Streaming & Torrenting With Symlex VPN

Streaming isn’t the Symlex VPN’s strength. After testing its dedicated streaming servers in the US, we could unblock the American Netflix library.

We also tested BBC iPlayer using one of its many UK servers only to see that it works but with heavy buffering beforehand, which happened in both cases.

The silver lining is that torrenting works well. You can connect to any server and download torrent files limitlessly thanks to uncapped bandwidth. Just bear in mind you won’t find advanced P2P functions like Port Forwarding or SOCKS5.

Is Symlex VPN Working in China?

Yes, it’s working in China according to the VPN’s claims. After testing it with our VPN Detection Tool, Symlex VPN wasn’t detected.

Also, a few of our testers in China reported that Symlex VPN worked well with both of its protocols.

Symlex VPN Price Review

Symlex won’t cost you a fortune, which is yet another plus. We’ll mention its 1-year plan at just $2.79/mo or $34 for the first 12 months.

However, there’s the Lifetime plan at $999.99, which, despite being a Lifetime deal, is a tad expensive compared to, let’s say, FastestVPN and its equivalent at $40.

Symlex VPN Price

Symlex VPN also has 6-month and 1-month plans at $4.17/mo and $7.99/mo respectively.

There’s a short 7-day money-back guarantee and payment methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit/debit cards, Amazon Pay, and many others.

Customer Support of Symlex VPN

We found Symlex VPN’s customer support extremely good. It’s available 24/7 through live chat and isn’t only responsive but also helpful.

Numerous FAQs and guides are on the site, letting you get help without chit-chatting. Overall, quite a great experience.

Symlex VPN Review: The Final Verdict

Symlex VPN might not be popular like some of its rivals, yet, it strikes a fine balance between price and performance.

We’re fond of its solid security, a no-log policy, apps for all popular platforms, and excellent customer support. It’s not without flaws.

The VPN performs poorly for streaming, it offers just a 7-day refund policy and comes with 5 simultaneous connections – less than many of its rivals.

At the price of $2.79/mo for the 1-year plan, it’s easy to overlook these flaws and enjoy the VPN to the fullest.
